Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting an Electrical Technician to join the Maintenance team in the Wastewater division, based at Earlswood - Redhill. The role involves inspecting, maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical plant with minimum supervision to keep sites operational.

You will diagnose faults, install and modify equipment, and provide training and technical guidance to trainees and staff. The position is a 38-hour week, on-site, with standby rotations and a full UK driving licence

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or NVQ/C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering.
• 18th Edition—training can be provided.
• Able to identify issues and implement solutions.
• Excellent communicator with internal and external staff and contractors.
• Resilient, able to work under pressure and adapt to change.
• Work with minimum supervision and show initiative.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety standards in the industry.
• Team player who supports others and collaborates.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly to minimise interruptions to the process.
• Diagnose complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents.
• Provide technical advice and support for technical trainees and colleagues.
• Work on electrical equipment including motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, control gear, VSDs, PLCs, and related systems.
