Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Technician for the Waste Water team in Thames Valley North, including Aylesbury. You will inspect, maintain, diagnose faults, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical and electrical plant safely with minimal supervision.

Base location can be Aylesbury or nearby sites; 38-hour week, standby rota and overtime opportunities. Company van, tools and fuel card provided; strong emphasis on health and safety.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems in a true multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely.
• For individuals with mechanical or electrical experience only, we will develop right people to dual-skilled status.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise plant breakdowns.
• Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and support for trainees; refer to up-to-date knowledge.
• Work on pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, VSDs, valves, dosing equipment and PLCs.
• Participate in standby rota after training.
