Job description
Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance team in the Wastewater Division, based out of our Mogden STW.

As a successful candidate, you will use your electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision, ensuring our sites remain operational for our customers.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician
  • Ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors is always a top priority by complying with the Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Working on equipment such as drives, various pumps, 3‑phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls.
  • Undertaking both reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault‑finding to identify issues, fixing or escalating them, performing planned maintenance on plant and equipment daily, installing new plant and equipment as required in line with current standards and regulations.
  • Recording work and asset information to improve business performance, identifying possible future risks and recommending changes in the course of your day‑to‑day work and raising these for resolution as required.
  • Providing specialist technical advice where appropriate with up‑to‑date technical knowledge, and coaching, training and developing staff under their supervision, including the apprenticeship programme.
  • Delivering excellent customer experience and positively contributing to overall customer satisfaction by interacting with all customers (internal & external) in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful and polite manner.

Base Location – Mogden – Isleworth – TW7 7LW

Working Hours
38 hours per week Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am‑3:36 pm plus Standby rota payments & overtime opportunities which can increase the earning potential by up to an additional £8,000‑£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

All PPE, tools and a van are provided when on duty and on call.

What you should bring to the role
  • You should be a time‑served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems or hold an NVQ or C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering.
  • 18th Edition preferred but training can be given.
  • A problem‑solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions or escalations if required.
  • An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
  • Resilient, able to adapt to the pressures of work and a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, using own initiative and working to design and standards.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player who can work with many different teams, showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
  • Full UK driving licence.
