Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Energy Unit, Transmission & Distribution division, supporting projects from concept through commissioning. You will deliver designs for 11kV/33kV networks, provide technical leadership, and contribute to bids while mentoring graduates.

The role requires Chartered status or equivalent, and experience across renewable and grid-related projects, with strong communication and collaborative skills. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Professionally qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Proven skills and experience in the sectors mentioned (energy, grid, renewables).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines internal and external.
• Some experience in electrical project engineering from LV to 11kV/33kV.
• Competent in the use of MS packages.
• Aware of bid procedures and internal governance.
• Aware of procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
• Able to travel in the UK and overseas if required.
• Demonstrates initiative, self-motivation and decisive thinking.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical solutions and leadership in electrical designs for major works.
• Govern projects from inception to commissioning with on-time delivery and within budget.
• Contribute to bid preparation and proposals, and develop junior staff.
• Manage engineering projects and ensure compliance with client specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet client expectations.
