Overview

Wakefield Council is hiring Education Welfare Officers (Elective Home Education). This is a full-time, permanent role based in Wakefield.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, consistent and rigorous intervention in line with statutory processes for families who choose to Electively Home Educate.
• Advise schools regarding compliance with legislation and DfE guidance related to Elective Home Education.
• Identify and challenge practice where appropriate and offer support to schools and families.
• Conduct casework on Elective Home Education and undertake other duties within the Education Welfare Service.
• Work as part of a supportive team with access to regular supervision.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in schools and/or educational establishments.
• Good working knowledge of Elective Home Education.
