Sector: Commercial Director - Infrastructure

Location: Ideally within commutable distance to Warrington or Solihull offices; other locations considered. Nationwide travel required.

What you will be doing:

Galliford Try Infrastructure seeks a Sector Commercial Director to oversee our Local Authority business unit, leading its management, governance, and strategic contribution.

  • Report to the Commercial Director of the business unit.
  • Develop and implement the Business Plan.
  • Advise on contractual and commercial matters.
  • Ensure compliance and governance adherence.
  • Represent Galliford Try as needed.
  • Support wider business initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Business Management Systems, contractual obligations, and accurate commercial reporting.
  • Lead commercial strategies to optimize profit, cash flow, and manage risks and changes.
  • Provide leadership in tenders, negotiations, dispute resolution, and insurance claims.
  • Maintain systems for commercial control, procurement, and contract management.
  • Develop and maintain strong client and partner relationships, including JV partners and suppliers.
  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing commercial teams, including training and management.
  • Promote standards, behaviors, and values related to health, safety, and sustainability.

About you:

  • Experience leading frameworks and projects of varying scales.
  • Strong expertise in commercial and contractual matters, tender leadership, and dispute resolution.
  • Knowledge of NEC, IChemE, and similar contracts.
  • Experience in JV collaborations and insurance management.
  • Leadership skills to develop large commercial teams.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Confidence in contributing to senior leadership forums, including Board meetings.
  • Results-oriented with decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Aligned with company values, including health, safety, and sustainability standards.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, CSCS accreditation, and a valid driving license.
