Sector Commercial Director – Infrastructure

Location – Any location in England will be considered. Please note that nationwide travel is required.

What you will be doing:

Galliford Try Infrastructure have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Sector Commercial Director to join the division, overseeing our Local Authority business unit.

You will be responsible for the successful leadership, management and governance of the Local Authority business areas, and contributing to the strategic objectives of the wider organisation.

  • Report to the business unit Commercial Director.
  • Develop and Implement the Business Plan.
  • Advise on contractual and commercial matters.
  • Ensure compliance and governance requirements are adhered to.
  • Represent GT as required.
  • Support to wider business initiatives as required.
  • Ensure adherence to Business Management Systems, contractual compliance, and reliable commercial reporting.
  • Lead and implement commercial strategies to optimise profit, cash flow, and effective risk/change management.
  • Provide commercial and contractual leadership in tenders, negotiations, dispute resolution, and insurance claims.
  • Maintain robust systems for commercial control, supply chain procurement, and contract management.
  • Develop and manage strong client and partner relationships, including JV partners and key suppliers.
  • Build, lead, and support high-performing commercial teams, including training and line management.
  • Promote and lead business-wide standards, behaviors, and values, including health, safety, and sustainability.

About you:

  • Proven experience leading frameworks and a mix of large and smaller-scale projects.
  • Strong commercial and contractual expertise, including tender leadership and dispute resolution.
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC, IChemE, and other relevant contract forms.
  • Experienced in Joint Venture collaboration and managing insurance matters.
  • Skilled in leading and developing large commercial teams with strong organisational capabilities.
  • Excellent communicator with strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills; able to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Confident contributor to senior leadership forums, including Board-level meetings.
  • Results-driven with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Committed to company values and professional standards, including Health & Safety and sustainability.
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, with CSCS accreditation and a valid driving licence.
