Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Executive Assistant to provide high‑level support to the Director Consumer Finance, helping to drive the division’s strategic agenda and maintain operational excellence. The Consumer Finance directorate oversees the supervision of approximately 30,000 flexible firms and leads on policy development for the credit market. This role offers a unique chance to work closely with the Director and collaborate with teams across the entire directorate.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Director in advancing strategic objectives by offering advice, guidance and coordination with the Senior Leadership Team and the Executive Directors’ private office.
  • Coordinate day‑to‑day and forward‑looking operations of the Director’s office, including business planning, budget oversight, and management of cross‑directorate workstreams.
  • Draft and manage key communications and documentation on behalf of the Director, such as presentations, directorate notes, meeting agendas and speaking engagement materials.
  • Prepare high‑quality briefing materials for senior meetings and review contributions to ensure consistent standards.
  • Represent or accompany the Director in meetings, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring timely escalation of important matters.
  • Track and follow up on actions and insights from MI packs and directorate responsibilities, liaising with relevant Business Partners, Heads of Department and stakeholders to ensure momentum and accountability.

  • Experience applying UK financial rules and regulations.
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and time‑management skills – demonstrated ability to manage high‑volume workloads to a high standard within tight deadlines.
  • Experience driving operational excellence with a proactive, independent approach and the ability to identify and implement improvements.

Essential

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly grasp complex information, understand its context and implications, anticipate issues and consistently deliver outcomes.
  • Excellent oral communication skills, adaptable to different audiences, with integrity to handle confidential matters with discretion and build trust.
  • Experience engaging confidently and effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders to build, maintain and develop key relationships.
  • Ability to guide others to successfully deliver divisional priorities such as Business Planning and RCSA, alongside a good understanding of the FCA and its wider context.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
