Position Summary:

The Property and Casualty Underwriter manages a portfolio of accounts and drives new and renewal business opportunities for Property and Casualty insurance. The role involves assessing risks, evaluating applications, analyzing data, and determining coverage terms and premiums. The underwriter develops and maintains underwriting practices and guidelines, and builds relationships with brokers and stakeholders.

What will your job entail?

Job Responsibilities:

1. Underwrite new and renewal high net worth property business, analyze policy forms, broker endorsement requests, and submitted documentation according to company standards.
2. Evaluate risks to decide whether to accept, modify, or decline a risk based on coverage value, location, usage, safety features, and other relevant factors.
3. Determine coverage limits, insurance premiums, policy terms, and conditions based on risk assessment and guidelines.
4. Provide services for new business and renewals, demonstrating professionalism and adherence to guidelines.
5. Examine and evaluate exposures, ensuring compliance with laws and organizational guidelines.
6. Provide premium forecasts and business plans to support budgets and performance targets.
7. Maintain broker relationships and collaborate across teams for submissions, quotes, and other production activities.
8. Build long-term relationships within the portfolio and partner with brokers to create customized insurance solutions.
9. Create opportunities for new business, maximize retention, and review renewals timely to meet targets.
10. Engage in marketing activities, attend seminars, and stay informed on market trends and underwriting developments.
11. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging risks, regulations, and adjust strategies accordingly.

Work Experience and Education:

Experience in US high net worth underwriting is desirable, but UK-based risk experience or US property experience will also be considered.
