Job description

In this role as a Private Banker, you will have an exciting opportunity to be part of the UK Domestic team, offering bespoke banking and investment solutions to ultra-high net worth clients. You will act as a trusted advisor, providing tailored banking services, lending, wealth structuring, and a world-class range of investment products across all asset classes.

To succeed as a Private Banker, you should have experience in:

• Relationship management, especially handling the needs of private clients and families
• Financial Services industry, ideally in retail regulated products, high net worth client services, and asset management
• Advising on diverse wealth management solutions
• RDR level four qualification

Valuable additional skills include:

• High digital literacy
• Extensive private banking experience and market exposure
• Business development and cold calling skills

The role may be assessed on critical skills such as risk management, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technological proficiency, and technical expertise.

This position is based in London and is classified as a Certified role under PRA & UK FCA regulations, which may require specific regulatory qualifications.

Purpose of the role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with corporate and individual clients, acting as a bridge between the bank’s offerings and client needs for mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

1. Manage client relationships by understanding financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance; analyze data from portfolios and cash flows to identify trends and opportunities.
2. Research industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to inform strategic advice.
3. Design customized solutions using the bank's products and services to meet client objectives.
4. Communicate value propositions, justify recommendations, and negotiate mutually beneficial terms.
5. Guide clients on financial decisions, providing investment advice, risk management, and market updates.
6. Assess and mitigate financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships.
7. Document interactions and transactions for transparency and compliance, and support product and service development.
8. Monitor client satisfaction and revenue metrics to evaluate relationship effectiveness.
9. Contribute to strategic planning, resource allocation, and policy management, driving continuous improvement.
10. If managing a team, define roles, plan for future needs, and oversee performance and development.
11. Demonstrate leadership behaviors such as listening, inspiring, aligning, and developing others.
12. As an individual contributor, serve as a subject matter expert, guide technical direction, and mentor less experienced staff.
13. Advise stakeholders on functional and cross-functional impacts, supporting risk management and controls.
14. Collaborate across departments to align with business strategies and support organizational goals.
15. Develop innovative solutions through sophisticated analysis and research.
16. Build and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders using influencing and negotiating skills.
