Job summary

Kainos is seeking a Product Consultant to lead backlog maturity, drive MVP thinking, and communicate value across teams and stakeholders. You will run agile ceremonies, plan workshops, and help shape product delivery while coaching a small team.

A client-facing consulting background and defence sector experience are highly valued. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely MVP delivery, manage scope within commercial constraints, and foster strong stakeholder

Qualifications

• Experience in bespoke software delivery as part of an agile external client project
• Defence sector experience
• Active DV clearance
• Experience across the software lifecycle from analysis to live operations
• Excellent workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement
• Modelling of As-is and To-be processes with buy-in
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration
• Backlog management, decomposing work into deliverables and ensuring quality
• Elicitation of functional, technical and non-functional requirements into user stories
• Prioritisation to refine backlog and manage dependencies
• Ability to deliver MVP within project scope
• Commercial awareness and ability to work under constraints
• Excellent user story writing and consistency
• Ability to build trusted relationships and contribute to sales
• Experience mentoring junior team members
• Ability to explain technical jargon to non-technical teams

Responsibilities

• Owns team backlog maturity and features from inception to delivery
• Drives MVP thinking and communicates value to team and stakeholders
• Leads agile ceremonies and fosters engagement and discussion
• Plans and runs workshops with diverse stakeholders to reach consensus
• Mentors and develops junior staff within the delivery team
