Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in Ipswich is seeking a Driver's Mate to assist our drivers in delivering goods safely and on time. The role requires physical fitness and the ability to handle high-volume orders, with a 44-hour week and early starts.

The position includes training on handheld devices, working patterns from Monday to Friday plus 4 compulsory Saturdays, and a pension scheme with employee and employer contributions. Prior related experience is helpful but not essential.

Qualifications

• Physically fit for manual handling.
• Able to perform simple maths calculations.
• Excellent organisational skills and workload management.
• Full valid Cat B driving licence; no more than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate picking and loading of alcohol onto the vehicle before delivery.
• Assist the driver with unloading deliveries at licensed premises.
• Stay in touch with the transport team to report problems.
• Complete relevant processes on an electronic handheld device.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

• Coordinating the picking and loading of alcohol onto your assigned vehicle prior to delivery
• Accompanying and assisting the HGV driver with unloading deliveries at licensed premises
• Staying in touch with the transport team to advise of any problems
• Completing relevant processes on an electronic handheld device

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

• Are physically fit as the role involves lots of manual handling
• Have previous experience of working with volume orders
• Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage their own workload
• Can perform simple math's calculations
• Previous experience as a Driver's Mate, within a similar environment would be ideal but isn't a deal breaker!
• Full valid driving licence Cat B (Car Licence) Desirable
• No more than 6 points
