Job summary

DHL Supply Chain is seeking a Driver's Mate in Ipswich to support drivers in delivering goods safely and on time. You will help coordinate loading, assist with unloading at licensed premises, and stay connected with the transport team to handle any issues that arise.

The role requires physical fitness and the ability to perform simple maths, with a focus on efficient workload management. A Cat B licence is desirable, and full-time hours are provided with benefits.

Qualifications

• Physically fit for manual handling.
• Experience with high-volume orders is beneficial.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage workload.
• Can perform simple maths calculations.
• Previous Driver's Mate experience is nice-to-have but not required.
• Full valid Cat B driving licence with no more than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate the picking and loading of alcohol onto the assigned vehicle.
• Assist the HGV driver with unloading deliveries at licensed premises.
• Stay in touch with the transport team to report issues.
• Complete relevant processes on an electronic handheld device.

Pay Rate: £31,778.47
Grade: CA
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
Shift patterns: Monday to Friday (05:00 - 07:00) 4 Compulsory Saturdays, 44hr week
Location: Ipswich, IP1 5NX

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

• Coordinating the picking and loading of alcohol onto your assigned vehicle prior to delivery
• Accompanying and assisting the HGV driver with unloading deliveries at licensed premises
• Staying in touch with the transport team to advise of any problems
• Completing relevant processes on an electronic handheld device

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

• Are physically fit as the role involves lots of manual handling
• Have previous experience of working with volume orders
• Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage their own workload
• Can perform simple math's calculations
• Previous experience as a Driver's Mate, within a similar environment would be ideal but isn't a deal breaker!
• Full valid driving licence Cat B (Car Licence) Desirable
• No more than 6 points
