Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in Ipswich is seeking a Driver's Mate to support drivers in delivering goods safely and on time. This role involves early starts, manual handling, and coordinating loading/unloading with the transport team.

You will work a 44-hour week with Saturday shifts and a 5:00–7:00 start pattern. A full UK driving licence (Cat B) is desirable; prior experience as a Driver's Mate is welcome but not essential.

Qualifications

• Physically fit for manual handling and physical tasks.
• Good numeracy for basic calculations.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workload.
• Full valid driving licence Cat B (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate picking and loading of items onto the vehicle.
• Assist the driver with unloading at licensed premises.
• Stay in contact with the transport team to report issues.
• Complete relevant processes on an electronic handheld device.

Shift patterns: Monday to Friday (05:00 - 07:00) 4 Compulsory Saturdays, 44hr week

We're now looking for a Driver's Mate to play a key role assisting our drivers to deliver goods safely and on time.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY INVOLVE

• Coordinating the picking and loading of alcohol onto your assigned vehicle prior to delivery
• Accompanying and assisting the HGV driver with unloading deliveries at licensed premises
• Staying in touch with the transport team to advise of any problems
• Completing relevant processes on an electronic handheld device

THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO

• Are physically fit as the role involves lots of manual handling
• Have previous experience of working with volume orders
• Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage their own workload
• Can perform simple math's calculations
• Previous experience as a Driver's Mate, within a similar environment would be ideal but isn't a deal breaker!
• Full valid driving licence Cat B (Car Licence) Desirable
• No more than 6 points
