Domestic Assistant - Higher level

We are looking for friendly, flexible and conscientious people with a love of cleaning to join our team of Domestic Assistants at Wansbeck General Hospital.

These positions are to work 30 hrs per week, usually as 5 x 6 hr shifts. Shifts worked are usually either 7am - 1pm, 12pm-6pm or1pm - 7pm and will include working a share of weekends and Bank Holidays.

Other hours may also be available.

Job responsibilities

To complete a range of routine work procedures such as:

  • Cleaning of floor areas as scheduled by means of vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning.
  • Undertake deep cleans in areas where infection is present
  • Removal of rubbish including domestic and clinical waste from designated areas to disposal point.
  • Cleaning of sanitary areas, toilet, sinks, shower cubicles and staff changing areas.
  • Damp dust of all surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails.
  • Cleaning of internal glass.
  • Taking down and putting up of curtains.
  • Scheduled cleaning of chairs.
  • Scheduled cleaning of carpets.
  • To wash walls (shoulder height) fitting and windows where required.
  • Use all equipment and materials in a correct and safe manner.
  • Report all faults queries or problems to the Ward Manager/Domestic Supervisor.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
  • Carry out any urgent spot cleaning and spillage.
  • Participate in training programmes relevant to efficiency, fire drills, hygiene, the requirements of the health and safety at Work regulations and other courses as deemed necessary for the efficient working of the department.
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate.
