Job Description

Due to significant growth in our water sector, we are recruiting for a Document Controller to join our delivery team, working on theNorthumbrian WaterFramework.

Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by Northumbrian Water to the Living Water Enterprise to help shape and deliver its strategic infrastructure upgrade programme with contracts valued up to c.£670m to Costain over the next 15 years.

The Document Control/Information Management Department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficientmanagement,security,andaccessibilityofdocumentsandinformationacrossallprojectsand operational levels. This department is central to the company's ability to execute projects effectively,regulatory requirements, and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.

This role is primarily office-based, with the potential for occasional visits to project sites.

Responsibilities
  • DocumentProcessing:Receive,catalogue,andstoredocumentsinphysicalordigitalformats ensuring they are accessible and correctly filed according to the document control procedures
  • DataManagement:Maintainrecordsofalldocumentsandrevisions,includingdrawings, reports,and project correspondence, ensuring the most current and accurate versions are available
  • Distribution and Control: Facilitate the distribution of documents to project teams, clients, and stakeholders, managingtheprocessofdocumentreviewandapprovals,ensuringtimelyupdatesand distributions.
  • Compliance:Ensureallprojectdocumentationcomplieswithcompanypolicies,industry standards,and regulatory requirements
  • Collaboration:Workcloselywithprojectteams,includingengineers,projectmanagers,andother stakeholders, to ensure efficient document control support
  • Reporting:Generatereportsondocumentstatus,compliance,andothermetricsforproject managers and senior management
  • Archiving:Assistinthearchivingofprojectdocumentsandrecordsinaccordancewithlegaland company requirements, ensuring they are securely stored and retrievable
Qualifications
  • Previousexperienceindocumentcontrol,preferablywithinanengineering,construction,or technical environment
  • Familiaritywithdocumentcontrolsoftwareanddatabase systems
  • Strongorganisationalandtime-managementskills,withtheabilitytohandlemultipletasks simultaneously
  • Attentiontodetailandcommitment to accuracy
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and electronic document management systems (ProjectWise & SharePoint)
  • Abilitytoworkindependentlyandaspart ofateam
  • AdiplomaorassociatedegreeinBusinessAdministration,InformationManagement (desirable but not essential)
