Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Director - HV Cable System Design to lead the design delivery for high voltage cabling projects up to 400kV across our Power & Energy portfolio in the UK. You will manage specifications, calculations, design reviews and client interfaces from tendering through handover.

You will bring extensive HV/EHV cable experience, FEED and detailed design skills, and familiarity with National Grid/DNO standards, CDAE/TP141 authorisation, and CYMCAP tooling.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Power Engineering.
• Extensive experience in a cable related role supporting FEED design and/or detailed design.
• Experience of working at EHV transmission voltages and HV/EHV cable systems (HVAC/HVDC).
• Familiarity with National Grid and DNO standards and processes.
• Authorisation as CDAE and TP141.

Responsibilities

• Develop HV/EHV cable systems specifications, design, estimation and site support.
• Provide technical support on HV cable system engineering and design.
• Prepare plant/equipment specs, route specs, tender specs, reports.
• Ensure interfaces with other engineering functions and attend meetings with clients/subcontractors.
• Perform cable size, rating, TMF/EMF calculations and sheath-Voltage checks.
• Conduct design reviews and verification; ensure CDM compliance.
• Assist with temporary works design and risk assessments.
