Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Dietitians to join our forward-thinking and fully integrated Dietetic service at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. This is an excellent post for a newly qualified or early-career dietitian, providing the opportunity to work across both hospital and community settings as part of a well-established team of 43 dietetic staff.

We are a unique service in that we provide a specialist Nutritional Prescribing Service in the community, which includes the prescribing of enteral feeds, oral nutritional supplements, and infant formula. The post holder will work closely with GPs, community teams, hospital specialists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centred care.

We are committed to supporting and developing our staff through Continuous Professional Development. The successful applicant will be encouraged to attend the Trust-wide Preceptorship Programme within the first 12 months of employment. Additionally, the team actively supports the training of student dietitians in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Nottingham.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide high-quality, evidence-based dietetic care to patients across a range of settings, including inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, and community services.
  • To assess and manage patients with a variety of nutritional needs, including those requiring oral nutritional support, home enteral feeding, and specialised dietary interventions.
  • To participate in the delivery of the community-based Nutritional Prescribing Service, supporting safe and appropriate prescribing of nutritional products in line with local policy.
  • To contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and liaise effectively with GPs, hospital consultants, community nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care.
  • To maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with Trust and professional standards.
  • To engage in service development and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
  • To participate in the supervision, mentoring, and training of student dietitians.
  • To attend and participate in the Trusts Preceptorship Programme, as well as internal CPD sessions, reflective practice, and case discussions.
  • To maintain registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and adhere to the British Dietetic Association (BDA) professional standards and Code of Conduct.

Knowledge
