Development Electronic Technician | Southampton | £35,000 - £45,000

Our client is a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing company at the forefront of quantum technology. This position is primarily based in a laboratory setting focused on electronics and photonic technologies, contributing to the development and delivery of optical solutions for both off-the-shelf products and custom-built projects. The responsibilities span the full design and development lifecycle of embedded electronics and firmware for photonic devices, from compact intelligent subsystems through to complete laser-based platforms.

The Role:

  • Contribute as a member of a multidisciplinary development team involved in the design and deployment of laser-based systems.
  • Assemble and evaluate prototype hardware produced by the electronics design team, and support design verification activities for new developments in collaboration with engineers.
  • Provide additional technical support to the wider electronics group in the development and delivery of existing electronic product lines.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • A relevant technical qualification at Level 3 or 4 (such as ONC/HNC or equivalent), A-Level Electronics, or comparable practical experience gained within a related industry.
  • Demonstrated competence in core electronics practices including soldering, PCB design, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
  • Proven experience in testing and fault analysis of electronic systems, with exposure to electronic design activities.
  • Familiarity with software development using languages such as C, C++, Python, or similar.
