Abatec is proud to be assisting our client, a trusted delivery partner within the Welsh Water Framework, to grow the team so they can meet the demands of several upcoming capital projects across the region.

We are currently seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead the design delivery of wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with framework goals, regulatory standards, and our client’s commitment to quality, safety, and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all aspects of design for multiple waste / dirty water projects across the Welsh Water Framework.
• Manage design teams to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of design outputs.
• Act as the technical interface between Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, and key stakeholders.
• Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, Welsh Water specifications, environmental standards, and buildability best practices.
• Drive design assurance processes including reviews, approvals, and value engineering initiatives.
• Support tendering and early contractor involvement (ECI) phases where applicable.

Requirements

• Proven experience in design management of water or wastewater infrastructure (dirty water experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of UK water industry standards, particularly those of Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW) or similar.
