Job summary

SP Energy Networks in Glasgow/Cambuslang invites a Design Engineer (OHL) to develop and deliver engineering solutions for 33kV to 400kV transmission projects. The role supports high-value initiatives enabling Scotland's Net Zero goals, covering feasibility through to detailed design with a focus on safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

You will work across global engineering teams, preparing specifications, guiding project delivery, and ensuring compliance with current legislation,

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering or HND with relevant experience.
• Experience in Transmission network Overhead Lines and equipment.
• Ability to write clear technical reports and influence senior management.

Responsibilities

• Develop pre-contract design information and provide technical guidance for project delivery teams.
• Prepare detailed engineering specifications and designs for high-value Transmission projects.
• Review Overhead Line drawings and technical specifications for construction, procurement, and stakeholders.
• Assist with resolution of site and construction issues.
• Promote CDM and Health & Safety best practice within a design environment.
