Job summary

SP Energy Networks in Glasgow/Cambuslang is seeking a Design Engineer (OHL) to develop and deliver engineering solutions for 33kV–400kV transmission projects. Reporting to the Overhead Line Engineering Section Head, you will take ownership of pre-contract design information and provide technical guidance to project teams.

The role requires a degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering or HND, significant OHL experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to produce clear design

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering or HND with equivalent experience; membership towards a professional institution.
• Significant experience delivering engineering solutions for Transmission Overhead Line projects.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence Senior Management.
• Experience with overhead line design software preferable.

Responsibilities

• Own pre-contract design information and provide technical guidance for project delivery teams for OHL systems.
• Prepare detailed engineering specifications and designs for high-value transmission projects.
• Define equipment requirements for System Construction Authorisation and Project Technical Specifications; review drawings and specs.
• Support resolution of site/construction issues and ensure CDM and Health & Safety compliance.
