Job description
Overview

Academics are seeking a dedicated Deputy Nursery Manager to support the Nursery Manager/Lead Nursery Teacher in the smooth day-to-day running of our preschool. As Deputy Nursery Manager, you will also act as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), provide leadership and management support to staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the overall management of the nursery, including staff supervision, curriculum planning, and daily operations.
  • Take full responsibility for the setting in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), ensuring safeguarding procedures meet statutory requirements.
  • Promote professional growth through staff mentoring, training, and performance reviews.
  • Deliver and monitor a stimulating EYFS curriculum tailored to the needs of 3-year-olds.
  • Champion a child-centred approach that fosters curiosity, creativity, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate records of children''s development, attendance, and safeguarding concerns, including the use of an online journal system to communicate with parents and carers.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in an early years setting, specifically with 3-year-olds.
  • Level 3 (or higher) Early Years or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Experience in leadership or supervisory roles within early years is desirable.
