We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join the team at a nursery in one of Oxford Colleges. The salary is up to £36,000 depending on qualifications and experience. This is a very rewarding role with many benefits.
As a Deputy Nursery Manager, you will play a key role in providing exceptional physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and educational care for all children. Your responsibilities include hands-on childcare duties, supporting management activities, deputising for the manager in their absence, supervising staff, and contributing ideas and initiatives. You will model best practices and provide support and guidance to the team. Additionally, you will act as the Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator (SENDCO) and have opportunities for training and development in relevant areas.
You must hold a Level 3 or above early years qualification and have significant relevant experience in a childcare setting. You should be capable of leading and encouraging staff to deliver high-quality education and childcare. An excellent working knowledge of safeguarding is essential, along with an up-to-date safeguarding certificate. Ideally, you will also hold other training certificates such as paediatric first aid, food hygiene, and have an enhanced DBS clearance; these will be arranged if not currently held.
You should be an excellent communicator, able to build positive relationships with a wide range of individuals, and have a calm, positive, and proactive approach. An enthusiastic, energetic, and team-oriented outlook is essential. You should be comfortable being hands-on, engaging in child-led play, and assisting with administrative tasks such as arranging training courses or ordering supplies.
