Job Summary

An exciting opportunity for Deputy Head of Nursing at University Hospitals Tees within the Neurosciences Clinical Service Unit. This leadership role supports the direction of the CSU, working closely with the head of nursing, service director head of operations, and clinical expertise.

Main Duties
  • Provide operational direction to all nurses within the collaborative, ensuring high‑standard patient care.
  • Support leadership of nutrition and hydration care for all patients.
  • Ensure safe staffing and robust risk management and governance arrangements.
  • Lead preparations for CQC inspections and collaborate with senior multi‑professional teams.
  • Act as an integral member of the Trust senior nursing team, working with deputy heads, heads and directors of nursing, and the Chief Nursing Officer.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) with current UK professional registration.
  • First Level Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Management or leadership qualification, or equivalent level of skill through experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing relevant professional development.
  • Proven experience of working in a leadership or management role.
  • Experience managing and motivating a large team.
  • Leading changes in practice in a complex environment to improve performance or services.
  • Operational flow and management experience.
  • Budgetary management experience.
  • Understanding and experience of clinical and quality governance.
  • Proven experience of leading and delivering the patient safety agenda.
