Job summary

A leading healthcare organization in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Deputy Childrens Home Manager to support the Registered Manager in a residential home. This role requires strong leadership, a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare, and compliance with Ofsted regulations. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role and a genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years experience working in a residential childrens home (EBD / LD / MH).
• Previous experience in a Senior / Team Leader / Shift Leader role is essential.
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements, Quality Standards, and safeguarding procedures.

Shifts: Flexible (including some evenings weekends and on-call duties)

Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015
• Lead motivate and develop the staff team to deliver safe nurturing and therapeutic care
• Act as a role model promoting positive outcomes and independence for children and young people with EBD trauma and complex needs
• Oversee care planning risk assessments and incident reporting ensuring high-quality record-keeping and adherence to safeguarding standards
• Participate in recruitment induction supervision and staff appraisals
• Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence ensuring smooth running of the home
• Support with inspections audits and quality assurance processes
• Maintain excellent relationships with local authorities social workers and other stakeholders

Requirements

• Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) essential
• Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management within 18 months essential
• Minimum 2 years experience working in a residential childrens home (EBD / LD / MH) essential
• Previous experience in a Senior / Team Leader / Shift Leader role essential
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements Quality Standards and safeguarding procedures
• Excellent leadership communication and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage rotas staffing levels and care plans effectivelyFull UK driving licence highly desirable
