Job summary

An established food manufacturer in East London is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to perform planned and reactive maintenance on high-speed food production equipment. The ideal candidate should have HNC/HND qualifications in Engineering, strong fault-finding skills, and experience in a food manufacturing environment. Qualifications

  • Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer with prior experience in food manufacturing.
  • Able to carry out electrical & mechanical fault finding.
  • Recognized qualifications (HNC/HND) in engineering are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on food production lines.
  • Conduct electrical & mechanical repairs and overhauls.
  • Monitor site contractors and order necessary spares.

Skills

Electrical & mechanical fault finding and problem solving skills
Knowledge of electrical safety isolation procedures
Experience working on motors, sensors, inverters
Experience using SAP
Advantageous if worked with PLC systems

Education

HNC / HND qualified in Engineering
Completed a recognised apprenticeship

Maintenance Engineer

Location: East London (E16)

Working Hours: Monday‑Friday, 7am‑3pm

Salary: £55,000 + Overtime

Our client is an established food manufacturer, part of a larger global group, with multiple sites worldwide. Due to growth & CI projects at the site, they are looking for a new maintenance engineer to join their production & packaging team.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned, reactive maintenance and safety checks on all high-speed food production lines, packaging machinery, conveyors, metal detectors, labellers, baggers, checkweighers, PLCs, control panels, robotics, depositors
  • Electrical & mechanical fault finding, repairs, stripdowns & overhauls
  • Work on motors, gearboxes, VSDs, inverters, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, drives, bearings
  • Improve plant availability, reliability and continuous improvement work
  • Monitor contractors on site, ordering spares & parts
Qualifications
  • Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer
  • Ideally completed a recognised apprenticeship
  • HNC / HND qualified in Engineering
  • Electrical & mechanical fault finding and problem solving skills
  • Prior experience with industrial processing & equipment and manufacturing systems
  • Experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Knowledge of electrical safety isolation procedures (beneficial)
  • Experience working on motors, sensors, inverters, gearboxes, VSDs, pneumatics, drives
  • Experience using SAP (beneficial)
  • Advantageous if worked with PLC systems
  • Any experience in an ATEX / CompEX environment would be great
