A local garage is offering an exciting opportunity for a mechanic apprentice in Plymouth. The role entails hands-on training in various mechanical repairs and servicing tasks. Ideal candidates will possess good attention to detail, communication skills, and some knowledge of the motor trade. Successful completion of the level 2 apprenticeship may lead to full-time employment. Competitive weekly wages, holiday entitlement, and ongoing mentorship are included.
David May Motor Services are looking to take on a mechanic apprentice to join their team in Ivybridge.
This is a great opportunity to join a very busy and professional garage. The apprentice will learn all aspects of the trade from general repairs to full servicing. Tasks will include changing brakes, oil and filter changes, clutch repairs, full engine diagnostics, cylinder head replacement, suspension work plus numerous other jobs. The role will also include shadowing staff on complex repairs and assisting with MOTs.
The role is full time working 8.30am to 5.30pm five days a week, this equates to 40 hours.
£302 per week, based on a 40 hour week. Any overtime above the 40 hours per week, will be paid at the appropriate national minimum wage depending on age.
28 days holiday entitlement (including bank holidays) will be paid each year, during the course of your apprenticeship.

We are a small family run garage since 1975 which carry out both Body and Mechanical repairs to motor vehicle,We also have a fleet of hire vans and a used car forecourt.
Once having completed your level 2 qualification, you will progress onto a level 3 apprenticeship and full-time employment within the company, should you have the skills and knowledge required.
You will need to have a good attention to detail and be able to take on board potentially complex instructions. Good communication skills are required. Some knowledge or proven experience in the motor trade would be beneficial.
You must be pleasant, dedicated to completing your training and be prepared to assist colleagues and the employer with other jobs where required.
GCSE grades A -C or equivalent is desired, yet not required.
Attendance is required at our training centre for one day per week, and you will have regular visits every six to eight weeks from your designated assessor who will monitor your progress throughout your training. Whilst at our training centre you will learn the necessary skills and gain experience to help you in your role. Part of your training will be theory based, whilst the rest will be practical activities at our workshop facility.
