Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team. You’ll ensure UK data protection compliance, advise business units, support the DPO, and lead initiatives from DPIAs to breach management.

You’ll liaise with ICO, maintain ROPA, conduct DPIAs, manage DSARs and incidents, and drive continuous privacy improvements, collaborating across the business to balance risk with operability.

Qualifications

• Proven data protection advisory experience within Compliance or Legal.
• Strong understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision.
• Skilled at researching, analysing and presenting regulatory information.
• Comfortable challenging views and interpreting guidance accurately.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK data protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead handling of personal data breaches and MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as a main contact for DSARs, complaints and data protection litigation.
• Develop and run second-line monitoring to drive compliance improvements.
• Liaise with ICO on complaints and regulatory enquiries with robust responses.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve privacy issues.
• Drive continuous improvement of data protection and efficiency.
