PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The BBC offers some of the most popular services online and offline, reaching 94% of UK adults every month. We are looking for a motivated Data Analyst to join the Central Analytics Team and help us maximise the value we deliver to our audiences through the BBC portfolio. As the Data Analyst, you will provide performance data and uncover customer insights to support data-driven decision-making at the BBC. You will work with a variety of data sources to help us understand audience behaviour and preferences - including analytics data, metadata systems, and third-party datasets. This role also involves collaborating with non-technical colleagues, advising them on performance metrics, and encouraging the use of self-serve tools managed by our team.

Why join the team

You'll join the BBC Central Analytics Team and be responsible for delivering data insights and building tools that support the use of data in core business decisions across the BBC Public Service, which run iconic services such as News, Sport, iPlayer and Sounds. We sit within the wider Data Team, which is part of the Chief Customer Officer Group. In this role, you will have a close relationship with colleagues in other disciplines including Research, Content, Product and Strategy.

Your responsibilities and impact
  • Delivering analysis and insights on usage of the BBC services and content to inform decision-making
  • Creating and maintaining dashboards to empower stakeholders to self-serve with data
  • Build new data automation processes for first and third-party datasets using scripting languages and big data tools
  • Providing technical expertise and acting as a first point of contact for analytics queries from non-data oriented colleagues
  • Collaborating in cross-disciplinary project groups to enhance the BBC's data capabilities and develop new solutions
