Job description

The Role

An exciting opportunity for a 2nd Line Analyst in Newport. The Analyst is the escalation point for all SOC operational activity, responsible for the day‑to‑day monitoring of multiple security devices (SIEM, EDR, SOAR, etc.) and ensuring all customer SLAs are met.

Key duties include completing SOC operational tasks on time, updating and closing tickets with technical details, attending technical workshops, customer briefings/service reviews and presenting professional reports to key stakeholders. Excellent time management and teamwork are essential.

Tasks and Accountabilities

  • Analyse escalated events and alarms using the SOC toolset and heuristic guidance.
  • Provide support across all stages of the Incident Response lifecycle (preparation, detection, analysis, containment, post‑incident activities).
  • Ingest and interpret multiple data sources, turning findings into actionable use cases.
  • Assist with triage, scoping and containment during incident response engagements.
  • Mentor junior analysts and lead threat hunts.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customers.
  • Maintain currency in cyber security concepts, tools and best practices for the Senior Cyber Defence Analyst L2 role.
  • Conduct IOC searches and respond using predefined playbooks.
  • Develop playbooks for junior analysts.
  • Provide feedback and support within the first, second and third capabilities of the Airbus Protect Defence Team.
  • Contribute to the Continual Service Improvement life cycle.

Location: Airbus Protect offices, Newport, South Wales. Occasional business travel within the UK and abroad. Positions are only open to sole British Citizens and require a minimum DV security clearance.
