Job Description

At Gregory Distribution, we are currently seeking a Customs Administrator at our Wakefield site. You'll manage customs documentation and processes to ensure UK and international compliance, supporting smooth cross-border movements and working closely with internal teams and external partners for accuracy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process customs documentation for imports and exports in line with HMRC and international requirements.
  • Ensure accurate classification of goods using the correct commodity codes and maintain up-to-date knowledge of tariff changes.
  • Monitor and manage customs declarations, ensuring timely submission and compliance with regulations.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs authorities to resolve queries and ensure smooth clearance of goods.
  • Coordinate and manage transport movements into Northern Ireland, ensuring compliance with all relevant customs and regulatory requirements.
  • Process customer transactions using Trader Support Services (TSS), Government Gateway, and Goods Movement Reference (GMR) systems.
  • Maintain detailed records of customs transactions and ensure audit readiness.
  • Support internal teams with customs-related queries and provide guidance on compliance requirements.
  • Monitor changes in customs legislation and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Undertake other administrative duties as and when required to support the wider team.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the customs process.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a customs or international trade role, ideally within logistics or supply chain is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of UK customs regulations and procedures is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
