Job summary

The Skills Company in St Helens is hiring a Customer Service Assistant Apprentice. The role is telephone-based and customer-facing, supporting existing client relationships. You will be supported by The Growth Company throughout the apprenticeship.

You will complete off-the-job training and coursework, with GCSE Maths & English at grade A*-C/9-4, and develop skills in customer service, sales awareness, and IT systems usage as part of the programme.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at grade A*-C/9-4 required.
• Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with people.
• Willing to learn and develop skills during apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Make and take regular phone calls to existing clients to build relationships.
• Identify opportunities for new business from existing clients during calls.
• Handle inbound customer enquiries via phone, email and in person.
• Support resolution of queries and complaints, escalating when needed.
• Maintain accurate records of client conversations on internal systems.
• Follow up on new business leads with the sales team.
• Build strong relationships to ensure a consistent customer experience.
• Participate in all elements of the apprenticeship programme.
