Customer Assistant - Visual Merchandiser - Central London Area - London, Greater London

Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a larger team to assist with the VM presentation of your area.
  • Execute and maintain exciting and enticing VM for our customers delivering excellent VM standards.
  • Excellent understanding and delivery of the M&S Way ensuring compliance to all processes involved.
  • Deliver exceptional aesthetic standards by ensuring execution of the VM guidelines with a focus on outfit building, product handling and excellent layout execution with the VM principles.
  • Complete floor walks throughout the day to check and maintain visual standards of departments and best-selling products.
  • Handle fast moving products and re‑merchandise ensuring inspirational and cohesive at all times, even when product sells out or is left pre-sales.
  • Placement of new lines across the store.
  • Implementation of launches across the store, working within a close-knit cross‑functional team, where the visual merchandising and presentation plays an integral role in the overall result.
  • Execute all in‑store marketing and maintain all signage, branding including ordering, installation of marketing and schemes delivering consistent standards and principles.
  • Regularly perform comparative ‘shops’ of new and inspirational places to maintain an understanding and awareness of competition.
  • Comply with Health & Safety standards, policies and procedures, demonstrating good standards in regard to your tools, equipment and environment.
Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience as a Visual Merchandiser with knowledge on product handling, VM principles and in‑store marketing.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Visual Merchandiser in a fashion retail brand with ability to product handle, deliver displays, and VM principles that follow the VM guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of layout, product handling, outfit building, colour balance and lighting and knowledge of VM principles.
  • Develop excellent product knowledge by following M&S guidelines, trends and being aware of our competitor's activity.
  • Attention to detail: strong eye for detail ensuring delivery of exceptional presentation standards.
  • Precision in arranging mannequin groupings and displays, ensuring M&S brand consistency.
  • Passionate about visual displays, with an understanding of their importance in a retail environment.
  • Organisation & Planning: Execute launches, seasonal campaigns across your departments, be organised and proactive, multi‑task, prioritise and work to tight deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
  • Trend Awareness & Commercial Acumen: Understanding what drives sales, knowing how to attract customer attention and influence what customers buy.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours (early mornings, overnight setups). Ability to lift, climb ladders, move displays.
