Job summary

Citizens Advice in Ilkeston is seeking a CRF Generalist Adviser to join our advice services team. You will deliver both face-to-face and telephone guidance to people in crisis, with wraparound support in foodbank settings across Amber Valley, Derbyshire Dales and Erewash.

The role involves welfare benefits checks, helping clients to claim benefits, challenging decisions and providing energy advice. Some remote/home working is possible.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking.
• Empathetic, non-judgmental approach.
• Strong IT and digital skills; quick learner of new systems.
• Commitment to performance targets and KPIs.
• Solid understanding of welfare benefits system (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face and telephone advice.
• Deliver wraparound advice in foodbank settings.
• Check welfare benefit eligibility and assist with claims.
• Offer energy advice to clients.
• Travel to community venues across Amber Valley, Derbyshire Dales and Erewash; some remote work may be available.
