Job summary

Vanilla Recruitment is recruiting a Credit Controller in a growing business. You will manage a substantial customer ledger, pursue outstanding debts, and help maintain cash flow while building relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

The role is office-based, offering £28,000-£30,000 per annum, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm (40 hours). The team is supportive and collaborative, with a strong benefits package including health cash plan, pension, and life assurance.

Qualifications

• Experience in credit control and managing a customer ledger.
• Strong numeric and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication to chase payments and resolve queries.
• Proficient in Excel and finance systems; able to work accurately under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high-volume customer ledger and ensure timely payments.
• Proactively pursue outstanding debt via phone and email to protect cash flow.
• Process daily cash allocations and perform reconciliations.
• Resolve customer queries and disputes promptly and professionally.
• Prepare customer statements and aged debt reports for debtor management.

We’re delighted to be recruiting a Credit Controller on behalf of a growing and successful business. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive Finance team in a varied role where you’ll take responsibility for a substantial customer ledger, helping to maintain strong cash flow whilst building positive relationships with customers and internal stakeholders. This Credit Controller vacancy offers a broad mix of credit control, sales ledger administration and customer account management responsibilities within a busy and collaborative environment.

• £28,000 - £30,000 per annum
• Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, 40 hours per week

Duties and responsibilities

• Managing a high-volume customer ledger
• Proactively pursuing outstanding debt via telephone and email, ensuring prompt payment and maintaining strong cash flow performance
• Processing daily cash allocations and performing accurate account reconciliations to maintain ledger integrity
• Investigating and resolving customer queries, payment disputes, and account discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
• Producing customer statements, aged debt reports, and detailed credit control information to support effective debtor management
• Conducting credit checks and administering new account applications in line with company credit policiesManaging daily invoicing activities, including consolidated billing and invoice submissions through customer portals

Required skills and experience

• Previous experience within a Credit Control role
• Strong sales ledger, cash allocation, and reconciliation skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Customer-focused with strong problem-solving skills
