Job summary

Osborne Appointments is seeking a Credit Control Team Leader/Manager in Milton Keynes to lead a busy credit control function. You will drive cash collection, manage debt recovery, and mentor a team while collaborating with senior management to enhance controls and customer relations.

The role requires extensive senior credit control experience, relevant qualifications, and strong negotiation and communication skills. Office-based, permanent, full-time.

Qualifications

• Extensive credit control experience in a senior or management role.
• Relevant qualifications in credit management, finance or accounting.
• Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness.
• Experience with credit management and accounting systems.
• Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Proven team leadership and people management experience.
• Strong organisation, communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop credit control strategies to improve cash flow and reduce bad debt.
• Set and review credit policies, limits and procedures.
• Assess customer creditworthiness and manage credit risk.
• Oversee debt collection and resolve overdue accounts.
• Manage bad debt provisions, write-offs and payment plans.
• Liaise with credit agencies and solicitors on debt recovery.
• Monitor cash collection, aged debt and DSO targets.
• Report on performance, risks and collection trends.
• Build strong customer relationships and resolve payment disputes.
• Oversee statements, payment reminders and debt follow-ups.
• Lead, coach and develop the credit control team.
• Work with other departments to improve processes and controls.
