Craftsman Assistant – Band 3

Craftsman Assistant – Band 3

The Estates Department is looking for an experienced Building Maintenance Craftsperson to join their team in the day‑to‑day maintenance of the hospital. The post holder will be expected to deliver a high standard of work relating to estates engineering across its multiple community sites. Our main aim is to provide an efficient and safe service to patients and stakeholders and offer excellent customer care to patients, their families and colleagues that use all our services at our multiple sites across Croydon.

Proposed interview date: 23rd December 2025.

Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide range of semi‑skilled work across core trade skills, ensuring all work is undertaken safely and in compliance with relevant legislation and Estates Health and Safety Procedures.
• Provide a multi‑skilled approach covering Painting & Decorating, Electrical/Mechanical and Building/Construction maintenance and repairs.
• Work with minimal supervision and as part of a team, assisting multi‑skilled craftsmen across the full range of their duties.
• Maintain a multi‑task environment and provide cover for other Assistant Crafts Persons during annual leave, sickness and vacancies.
• Carry Trust communication devices (pagers/bleeps) at all times to facilitate immediate response to emergencies.
• Communicate with colleagues, patients and visitors in a polite and courteous manner to ensure a high level of customer care.
• Keep service delivery managers up to date with engineering and building issues that may affect service delivery, and take direction from Estates Team Leaders or EMPC.
