What skills and experience we're looking for

We currently have an exciting opportunity for part time Cover Supervisors to join our fantastic team at Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA) in Wythenshawe.

The posts are permanent and part time, working 14-21 hours/2-3 days per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The pro‑rata salary is £9,999-£14,999 and full time equivalent starting salary is £29,064, Grade 5.

We’re looking for:

We are seeking a confident, adaptable and proactive individual who enjoys working with young people and is committed to supporting their learning. The successful candidate will be able to manage classroom behaviour effectively, deliver pre‑prepared lessons, and provide feedback on student progress. Experience in a school setting is desirable, but not essential; we welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds who are passionate about education and making a difference.

Main purpose of the job:

As Cover Supervisor you will complement the professional work of teachers by delivering agreed learning activities to whole classes during short‑term staff absences. You will ensure continuity of learning, manage classroom behaviour, and support students in overcoming barriers to learning.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Supervise whole classes during teacher absence, delivering pre‑set work.
  • Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback on student progress and behaviour.
  • Support curriculum areas and contribute to resource development.
  • Assist with classroom displays and general teaching support.
  • Undertake break and lunchtime duties as part of the school rota.
  • Accompany students on educational visits and trips.
  • Support other areas of the school when cover demand is low.
Essential qualifications & experience:
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or higher).
  • Experience working with or caring for children or young people.
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and basic learning strategies.
  • A calm, adaptable and positive approach to managing student behaviour.
