Job summary

Randstad Education in the Southampton area is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Hampshire. This role is ideal for recent graduates or aspiring teachers looking to gain hands-on classroom experience with KS3 and KS4 students.

Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM (term time only), with competitive daily pay (£100–£130). No planning or grading responsibilities, just reliable supervision and feedback to help students stay on task.

Qualifications

• Degree level or higher required.
• Experience engaging with young people (tutoring, youth work, mentoring, or volunteering) is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Reliable and adaptable to varied classroom settings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Key Stages 3 & 4 across subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment.
• Deliver prepared work and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect completed work and provide feedback on progress and behaviour.
• Uphold school policies on behaviour management and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Supervise secondary school students (Key Stages 3 & 4) across various subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment where students feel supported.
• Deliver prepared work set by the department and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect completed work and provide constructive feedback on student progress and behaviour.
• Uphold school policies regarding behaviour management and safeguarding at all times.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree level or higher education qualification. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply!
• Experience: Practical experience working with young people, such as tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or volunteering.
• Skills: Confidence, strong communication abilities, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
• Requirements: An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one).
