Job summary

Randstad Education in Southampton is seeking Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across the area. Recent graduates and aspiring teachers gain hands-on classroom experience supervising KS3–KS4 during teacher absences, with no planning or grading responsibilities.

The role offers fixed term-time hours, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, and a clear path into teaching through PGCE/SCITT programs, with a supportive environment across Hampshire schools.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree level or higher; recent graduates encouraged.

• Requirements: Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Supervise secondary school students (Key Stages 3 & 4) across various subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment where students feel supported.
• Deliver prepared work set by the department and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect completed work and provide constructive feedback on student progress and behaviour.
• Uphold school policies regarding behaviour management and safeguarding at all times.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree level or higher education qualification. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply!
• Experience: Practical experience working with young people, such as tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or volunteering.
• Skills: Confidence, strong communication abilities, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
