Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work in secondary schools across the Southampton area. This role offers hands-on classroom experience with fixed hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, during term time. Perfect for recent graduates looking to gain practical teaching experience and progress toward PGCE or SCITT programs.

You will supervise students, deliver prepared work, and support a positive learning environment while building real-world classroom confidence.

Qualifications

• Degree level or higher qualification; recent graduates encouraged to apply.
• Experience with young people through tutoring, volunteering, coaching or mentoring is desirable.
• Confidence, communication, resilience and a positive, proactive attitude are valued.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Key Stages 3 & 4 across various subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly classroom and support students.
• Deliver prepared work and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect work and provide constructive feedback on progress and behaviour.
• Uphold school policies on behaviour management and safeguarding.

We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable Cover Supervisors to join vibrant secondary schools across the Southampton area. Responsibilities

• Supervise secondary school students (Key Stages 3 & 4) across various subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment where students feel supported.
• Deliver prepared work set by the department and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect completed work and provide constructive feedback on student progress and behaviour.
• Uphold school policies regarding behaviour management and safeguarding at all times.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree level or higher education qualification. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply!
• Experience: Practical experience working with young people, such as tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or volunteering.
• Skills: Confidence, strong communication abilities, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
• Requirements: An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one).
