Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a motivated Cover Supervisor to join secondary schools across the Southampton area. This role is ideal for recent graduates or aspiring teachers who want hands-on classroom experience while supporting teaching staff.

You will supervise Key Stages 3 and 4, deliver prepared work, manage behaviour, and help students stay on task. Fixed school hours 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM during term time, with weekly pay and a clear route into further teacher training.

Qualifications

• Degree level or higher education qualification. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply!
• Practical experience working with young people, such as tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or volunteering.
• Confidence, strong communication abilities, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).

Responsibilities

• Supervise secondary school students (Key Stages 3 & 4) across various subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment where students feel supported.
• Deliver prepared work set by the department and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect completed work and provide constructive feedback on student progress and behaviour.
• Uphold school policies regarding behaviour management and safeguarding at all times.
