Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to join secondary schools across the Southampton area. This role is ideal for recent graduates aiming to gain classroom experience and progress toward PGCE/SCITT.

You'll work school hours Mon-Fri, 8:30am-3:30pm, term time only, supervising KS3 and KS4, delivering prepared work and supporting student learning. A DBS (Update Service) is preferred or applicants will apply.

Qualifications

• Degree level or higher qualification; recent graduates encouraged to apply.
• Experience working with young people (tutoring, youth work, coaching, mentoring, volunteering).
• Strong communication, confidence, resilience and a proactive attitude.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one.

Responsibilities

• Supervise secondary school students (KS3 & KS4) across various subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly classroom environment and support students.
• Deliver prepared work set by the department and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect completed work and provide constructive feedback on progress and behaviour.
• Uphold school policies on behaviour management and safeguarding.

• Uphold school policies regarding behaviour management and safeguarding at all times.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree level or higher education qualification. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply!
• Experience: Practical experience working with young people, such as tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or volunteering.
• Skills: Confidence, strong communication abilities, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
• Requirements: An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one).
