Job description

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Control Standards and Processes Manager within the Group Chief Controls Oversight Office (GCCOO).

The GCCOO is a new oversight structure being set up to simplify and improve the effectiveness of controls through a centralised approach and proactively manage underlying risk in the First Line of Defence (1LOD).

This role will give you the opportunity to be at the forefront of HSBC’s global control transformation, driving consistency and effectiveness in risk management through a centralised oversight structure. You’ll play a pivotal part in shaping and embedding control standards and processes across the organisation, collaborating with diverse teams, and influencing strategic projects that impact the bank’s risk and control landscape. This role offers a dynamic environment focused on continuous improvement, professional growth, and the chance to make a tangible impact on HSBC’s ability to protect its customers and business, all within an inclusive and supportive culture that values difference and empowers individuals to fulfil their potential.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role, you will:
  • Supporting the yearly cycle of activity relating to the bank’s oversight of Material Controls; assisting with planning, execution, and review to ensure effective control oversight.
  • Implementing and maintaining Control Standards and Processes; developing clear principles and guidance to align with HSBC’s Risk Management Framework, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting with the operationalisation and embedding of Control Standards and Processes; ensuring consistent application and best practices across HSBC to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement for Control processes; gathering feedback, benchmarking against industry best practices, and updating relevant documentation.
  • Managing Group projects impacting Control guidance; supporting changes to the Risk Management Framework or other key artefacts, ensuring alignment and effective communication across the organisation.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Solid understanding of Control standards, methodologies, and processes; experience in designing, implementing, or maintaining control frameworks within a large organisation.
  • Solid understanding of Regulatory Compliance and the Risk and Control landscape; familiarity with regulatory requirements and risk management practices, ideally within the financial services sector.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and management levels; experience partnering with colleagues from different functions and backgrounds to achieve shared objectives.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, think innovatively, and problem-solve in high-risk environments; demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities, drive continuous improvement, and deliver solutions under pressure.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, securing executive buy-in, and working collaboratively across teams to ensure seamless delivery of priority programmes.

The base location for this role will be London and with a hybrid working pattern.
