Job description

Contract Senior RF Engineer - RF Systems / Microwave - Reading - Hybrid - Outside IR35

We’re supporting a growing engineering team who need an experienced Senior RF Engineer on a long‑term contract. You’ll be working across RF subsystem design, modelling, prototyping, and testing for next‑generation ground terminals, with 3 days a week on‑site in Reading. The project is expected to run for around 12 months and sits outside IR35.

Please note that you must be eligible for SC Clearance for this contract (though you do not need to already be SC Cleared).

What you’ll be doing

• Designing RF front‑end modules (LNAs, PAs, filters, mixers, converters) for Ku and Ka applications
• Running RF system simulations and propagation modelling
• Analysing simulation and measurement data
• Working with modem, antenna, and mechanical teams to optimise terminal‑level performance

What we’re looking for

• 7‑8 years in RF or microwave design
• Strong understanding of RF circuits, noise, linearity, and matching
• Confident with RF lab equipment
• Experience with Xilinx toolchains is a bonus (Vivado, Vitis, Petalinux)
• Experience designing RF hardware for Ku/Ka systems
• SATCOM would be desirable
