Job summary

Job description

The appointees will have a significant commitment to the indicated subspecialty where close collaboration exists between clinicians and pathologists. Applicants seeking full‑time (10 PAs) or part‑time positions are encouraged to apply. Flexible and home‑working is supported by the team. The successful applicant will be involved in the whole range of diagnostic work for the respective subspecialty and will also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching and training of junior medical staff, biomedical scientists, and to research.

Essential Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or eligible for registration within six months of interview
  • UK‑trained applicants must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by the date of interview
  • Non‑UK‑trained applicants must provide evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
  • FRCPath (or equivalent training or experience)
  • Higher degree relevant to the post
  • Experience in cellular pathology sufficient to satisfy the above qualifications
  • Skills and experience that fit the Department’s current and future requirements
  • Evidence of special expertise or interest in relevant specialties, ability to work independently and as part of a team, communication skills, and leadership capability
  • Evidence of teaching junior staff and undergraduate students
  • Evidence of involvement in clinical audit, clinical risk management and clinical governance
  • Experience and commitment to teaching both medical and non‑medical staff
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning

  • Evidence of research and publications in relevant subjects
  • Evidence of involvement in teaching programmes
  • Recognised teaching skills courses
