Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

Applications are invited for a General Paediatric Consultant to join a team of Acute General Paediatricians at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, North Wales.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a positive approach to join our supportive team, bringing a specialist interest in Cystic Fibrosis and a willingness to take on the lead role in safeguarding within acute children’s services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Be responsible for the management, appraisal, and supervision of Junior Doctors.
  • Maintain personal and professional development. The post holder will be expected to register with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health for the purpose of Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and to fulfil the requirements of that registration.
  • Provide expert advice, when required, to the Executive Team, Board, General Practitioners, and other relevant stakeholders on the planning and delivery of clinical services at local, regional, and national levels. This will be carried out in accordance with confidentiality agreements related to Health Board business.
  • Share responsibility with other Consultants for the recruitment, appointment and supervision of Junior Medical staff in accordance with Health Board policies.
  • Devote time on a regular basis for teaching and training of Junior Medical staff, contributing as appropriate to Postgraduate and Continuing Medical Education.

In addition to regular outpatient clinics, the post includes active participation in clinical governance and management responsibilities. Which will be developed through the job planning process. Study leave is fully supported, and attendance at regular departmental meetings is incorporated into the timetable.
