We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic Consultant to join our Care of the Elderly team to develop and expand our geriatric services. The job plan provides flexibility to develop this service within departmental and Trust objectives. The Trust is a Major Trauma Centre and support will be offered by geriatricians; you will have no responsibility for major trauma patients. You will be encouraged to join our consultant leadership and management training programme.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a major acute Trust in the North West of England with 1,270 beds for a resident population of 390,000 and a regional population of 1.5 million. We are the tertiary centre for major trauma, neuro-sciences, renal, oncology and plastic surgery/burns for Lancashire and South Cumbria. Undergraduate medical student teaching commenced here in 2003; there are opportunities for research and development integral to Teaching Hospital status.
There are two main hospital sites: Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley & South Ribble District General Hospital. Both Preston and Chorley have excellent rail and road links, with good access to Manchester airport. Recreational and sports facilities are numerous, with the Lake District, Ribble Valley, Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland within an hour’s drive.
