Job Overview

We are advertising for a Trust Registrar in Emergency Medicine based at the Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital site for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The department has been recently re‑configured to balance work‑life and provide excellent training opportunities, and has been awarded the Royal College of Emergency Medicine "Learning Environment of the Year" award.

Responsibilities
  • Take the initial assessment and manage patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Supervise and advise junior medical staff and Emergency Nurse Practitioners.
  • Discuss cases, review patients and initiate appropriate management plans.
  • Maintain clinical supervision, coaching and mentorship for the team.

  • Certification in ALS, ATLS, APLS or equivalent recognised courses.
  • Strong clinical and leadership skills, with a willingness to develop further.

Schedule

Consultants are present on the shop floor: 8 am to 10:30 pm (Winchester), 8 am to midnight (Basingstoke) on weekdays, and 11 am to 8 pm on weekends. Middle‑grade doctors play a key leadership role when Consultants are not present.

Flexible Working

All requests for flexible and part‑time working will be considered.

  • COVID‑19 vaccination is recommended; COVID‑positive patients are treated within services.
  • Probationary period covering the first six months in post.
